Compatibility Glossary Definition
It is easy to discover those Day signs which are compatible, harmonic or discordant. Below you'll find 5 different methods, all of which say the same thing.
Method #1 COLOR CODING
The easiest way to determine compatibility is to look at the colors of the glyphs on the Vertical and Horizontal axes of the Cross.
- Any person who has exactly the same colors in the same positions of your Cross, is compatible with you.
- If you have the same color scheme (but not in exactly the same position), you are harmonic with each other.
- If you have totally different colors, you are not compatible.
Mayan Crosses have four possible color combinations:
white/yellow (North/South),
yellow/white (South/North),
blue/red (West/East)
red/blue (East/West)
There are no other color combinations, such as yellow/red or blue/white.
These colors indicate which of the four directions your energetic qualities are derived from. It follows that if two people are made up of energies from the same, or compatible directions, you will have an easier time getting along. You have a special connection, a balanced and harmonic resonance.
People made of energies from right angles, i.e., North/East, North/West, South/East, South/West, are not complimentary, are "cut from a different cloth", so to speak. You can get along, but this will require more effort.
I am developing a theory about these concepts: those people closest to you are usually made up of the same colors, and are members of your soul group. You are invited to check this out for yourselves by entering the birthdays of those in your "inner circle" to see how they match with yours. Please email me mayancross@gmail.com with your insights.
If you are partnered with someone from an incompatible direction (energy), it means that you will have an extra load of challenges to staying together. It does not mean, however, that your efforts are fruitless or that you should give up. Go to the bottom of this page to find the COMBINED energy of the couple. This energy can better inform you on the best approach for dealing with conflicts.

Method #2 ANCIENT CODICES:
By looking at ancient codices, you can see four groupings of 5 Day Signs located in each of the four directions. Any Day Sign in your group is someone with whom you are compatible. A Day Sign found on the opposite side from another is considered harmonious. Those on the right angle from you? Well, you may wish to take a closer look because the two of you are not aligned and will experience uphill battles. If you are already comitted, go to the bottom of this page to find the COMBINED energy of the couple. This energy can better inform you on the best approach for dealing with conflicts and deeper understanding.

Method #3 DAY SIGNS AND THE ELEMENT TABLE
You will find good energetic relationships within the same element as well as on the horizontal same line.

Storm/Kawoq Sun/Ajpu Crocodile/Imox Wind/Iq
Dawn/Aqabal Net/Kat Serpent/Kan Death/Kame

LOOK FOR YOUR MIRROR
On the above table, find your Day Sign, then count 11 Day Signs forward (left to right, top to bottom) from your own. This sign is your complementary sign, which can be considered your opposite. This can manifest as conflict between the two, but the nature of those conflicts can reveal aspects of yourself that you need to know for personal growth.

To Sum It Up:
The Mayan Cross is a tool that is used like a manual for navigating life, love and fulfillment. All of these energies have positive and negative aspects. Since the nature of energy is dynamic, with awareness, intention and help from the Nawales, these aspects may be cultivated by anyone to reach the highest potential.
Please use this wisdom as it was intended, as a guide towards a deeper, richer life experience.
